ENGAGEMENT ON BEHALF OF ANIMALS

Fix Our Shelters believes that active engagement with state and local government is crucial for promoting animal welfare and supporting the communities we serve. To that end, we've retained a professional legislative advocate since 2023 to ensure our members' voices are heard in the legislative process, particularly for vulnerable populations such as shelter animals, strays, homeless animals, and victims of animal cruelty.

 

Our advocacy efforts are multifaceted:

• Sponsoring Protective Legislation: We proactively sponsor bills that provide meaningful protections for animals, addressing critical issues like animal cruelty, neglect, and exploitation.

• Supporting Sensible Legislation: We actively support animal-related legislation that aligns with our mission and values, promoting humane treatment and care for animals.

• Collaborating with Legislators: We work closely with sponsors and legislators to refine animal-related bills, ensuring they effectively address the needs of animals and our communities.

• Opposing Harmful Legislation: We vigorously oppose bills that compromise animal welfare or undermine the well-being of our communities, advocating for alternatives that prioritize animal safety and dignity.
