To schedule a meeting with a California legislator, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: To schedule a meeting with a California legislator, begin by finding the legislatures that represent the district(s) you live and/or advocate in:

  • Step 2: Once you have utilized the "Find Your Representative" tool above, click on the name of the representative you would like to schedule a meeting with. This will take you to your representative's official webpage.

  • Step 3: Please keep in mind that each legislature's webpage will vary on how they would like you to contact them & you may need to poke around a bit on their website to find the contact links. Some will have a link to schedule a meeting, others will just have contact information for you to email or call. The information you provide whether emailing, calling or using their online scheduling form will be the same:
    - Name of Organization/Person

    - Contact Information
    - Meeting Purpose (It can be as simple as "I would like to have a discussion about  animal services in your district")
    - Preferred Date and Time
    - Location Preference (e.g., Capitol Office, District Office, Virtual)

  • Step 4: Provide Additional Information (if necessary) If you're scheduling an event, provide event logistics, such as date, time, location, and dress attire. Specify the legislature's role, whether other elected officials will attend, and if press or media are invited.
