This is being billed as the trial of the century, at least for cats & kittens impounded in San Diego city and county.
The lawsuit alleges that the San Diego Humane's practice of “return-to-field” of friendly cats constitutes legal abandonment.
The case could establish, for the first time, a clear legal distinction between the “neuter/return” and “return-to-field” approaches to cat population control.
IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE NEEDED
San Diego Humane Society is being sued for the inhumane, illegal practice of dumping and abandoning friendly cats & kittens on the streets to fend for themselves. You can bet Cal Animals and other heartless California Shelters are keeping a close eye on THIS CASE.
If the cats lose, shelters ALL ACROSS CALIFORNIA will feel embolden to dump their cats too. All the while FLEECING CALIFORNIA TAXPAYERS OF MILLIONS.
Fix Our Shelters believes "reduced intake" programs advanced by
Dr Kate Hurley of UCD Koret, the "expert" called by SDHS to defend their practice of leaving friendly cats & kittens in the streets, whether owned or not is unconscionable. The goal should be to reduce intakes & euthanasia through humane education, high volume spay/neuter, TNR and common sense breeding laws.
SDHS & other California Shelters advancing "reduced intake" programs of turning animals away are NOT above the LAW!
Will you STAND UP for the CATS and KITTENS?
